Travel Information

Best Time to Visit

Kenya and Tanzania:

  • June to October: Ideal for wildlife viewing during the dry season. This period also coincides with the Great Migration in the Masai Mara and Serengeti.
  • November to May: The landscape is lush and green, perfect for bird watching and spotting newborn animals. Note that heavy rains can occur from March to May.

Uganda and Rwanda:

  • June to September: Best time for gorilla trekking with drier trails and optimal conditions.
  • October to May: Lush, green landscapes and good opportunities to see newborn wildlife. Be prepared for muddy and slippery trails during the heavier rains.

Weather and Climate

Kenya and Tanzania:

  • Dry Season (June to October): Sunny days and cool nights with minimal rainfall.
  • Wet Season (November to May): Afternoon showers are common, especially heavy from March to May.

Uganda and Rwanda:

  • Dry Season (June to September): Pleasant weather with minimal rain, ideal for trekking and wildlife viewing.
  • Wet Season (October to May): Frequent rains, particularly heavy in March and April, making trails muddy.

Visa Requirements

Kenya: Obtain a visa on arrival or apply online for an eVisa. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the entry date.

Tanzania: Visas can be obtained on arrival or online. Verify if your nationality requires a visa before traveling.

Uganda and Rwanda: Both countries offer eVisa applications. Rwanda also provides visas on arrival for many nationalities. Uganda requires proof of a Yellow Fever vaccination.

Health and Safety

Vaccinations: Recommended vaccinations include Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Consult your healthcare provider well in advance. Malaria Prevention: Take prophylactic medication and use insect repellent. Wear long sleeves and pants during evening hours, and sleep under mosquito nets. General Safety: Follow advice from local authorities and your tour guides, especially when traveling in remote areas.
